Project Manager (Contracted)
What This Is
Do you get a little thrill from a clean Gantt chart and a status report nobody had to ask for?
Are you the person who notices the budget burn before anyone else does, and says something about it kindly but clearly?
Do you enjoy working alongside smart consultants and making their jobs easier, not harder?
Have you managed software consulting projects and wished more teams took project management seriously?
Do you want to help build something, not just run a process?
Would you like to work with a flexible, growing company that treats its contractors like part of the team?
If you answered yes to at least half of the items above (ugh, math, we know), we would love to have a conversation with you!
This is an independent contractor position, 100% remote. You can work from anywhere in the contiguous US, in any time zone, as long as you have a strong internet connection with good bandwidth, since video calls and screen sharing are a regular part of the job. You’d start at about 5-10 hours per week on average, supporting two or three projects at a time, with room to grow to 15-20 hours per week. Just because you’re a contractor doesn’t mean you’re alone: our team is remote and communicates constantly online, and we want you to fit in with our culture. The best fit is a self-starter who knows when to take control, when to pass the baton, and how to get things done with a high level of excellence.
What You’ll Do
As a Contract Project Manager, you will be the dedicated PM on Salesforce consulting projects for small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations. Consultants will still be on every project, so your job is to give them the structure, visibility, and follow-through that lets them focus on great work. You’ll also help us build a consistent PM structure across our projects by being the best at what you do. You will report to our CEO, work with our consultants every week (sometimes every day), and be hands-on from kickoff to close-out.
Serve as the dedicated project manager on assigned client projects, owning delivery from kickoff through close-out.
Manage project time and budget, tracking hours against budget and flagging burn risks early.
Build and maintain project plans and Gantt charts, and keep them current as things change.
Run regular project status reports for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
Lead client communications where needed, including status updates, expectation setting, and change conversations.
Track risks, issues, and action items, and drive them to resolution.
Manage scope and change control, so changes are agreed on and documented before work begins.
Partner with consultants week to week to keep work moving, remove blockers, and keep deadlines realistic.
Help us shape and improve our project management practices, templates, and processes as we grow.
What You’ll Need
Must-Haves
Previous experience managing projects in a consulting environment.
Hands-on experience with Smartsheet for project plans, tracking, and reporting.
Experience managing project scope, timeline, and budget, including tracking hours against budget.
Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, including comfort leading client conversations.
Be authorized to work in the U.S. as an independent contractor.
A strong internet connection with good bandwidth for frequent video calls and screen sharing.

What Success Starts to Look Like
Our consultants feel the project manager made the project better, and would want you on the next one.
Projects are delivered on time and on budget, with no surprises for the client or for us.
Status reports, plans, and budget burn are always current, so nobody has to ask where things stand.
Risks and scope changes are raised early, with a recommended path forward.
Clients feel informed, heard, and confident in the team.
You bring ideas that make our PM structure stronger, and we adopt them.
You’re proactive and organized, and comfortable working autonomously with a flexible schedule.
You adapt quickly to new clients, their business needs, and our team’s way of working.
You use analytical and problem-solving skills to keep projects moving when plans change.
